Blue Hills Ski Chair Lift Stuck, Days After Boy Injured In Fall

CANTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The chair lift at the Blue Hills Ski Area in Canton malfunctioned Thursday, just days after a young boy was injured there.

According to WBZ-TV, dozens of skiers were stranded high up on the chair lift for about 40 minutes Thursday night as temperatures dipped into the teens. No injuries were reported.

Although local firefighters were called to the ski area and remained on standby, Blue Hills' employees handled the situation.

The lift's malfunction follows a seven-year-old boy falling 35 feet from the chair lift at Blue Hills Monday night.

The boy was med-flighted to Boston Children's hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

As WBZ-TV reports, rescuers said they doubted that the boy's fall was caused by a mechanical issue, but they weren't sure what happened.
